Greens Report - March 2021

Greens – apart from some issues with the 9th and 18th greens, all greens are shaping up well for the new season. The 18th green was recently hollow-cored and, with drier weather, has improved considerably and we are hopeful that this will be fine for the new season. The 9th green has new drainage.

We will be on the full tees from Friday 2nd April.

Fairways – on schedule for start of season and will be fertilising to increase thickness and growth on the exposed areas.

Bunkers – completed all bunker repair work that we had scheduled for the winter. Further work will be planned for next year. We have filled up all bunkers with new sand.

Gully – The back of the 6th green has now been completely re-turfed and a damaged water pipe fixed. I am sure that all members will agree that, aesthetically, this also looks so much better as you look over from the 5th tee. The gully grass itself has been verti-drained and, as noted above, we will in due course be fertilising this area. The wooden backboards marking the OB on the coast edge of the course are all being tidied up with edges and gaps suitably filled.

Divots and general course care – The start of the new season will also mean that mats are no longer required on the course. However, for the month of April, players will be allowed to lift, clean and replace balls within 6 inches. Players are also reminded that divots must be replaced.
